Olle Baertling

About the artist

First expressionist, then portrait-painter, he is in 1948 student of André Lhote, then of Fernand Léger. His admiration for Auguste Herbin, made him find his way to abstraction. Very soon, he participates in the ‘Salon des réalités nouvelles’. The painting of Baertling, where big black surfaces and often daring green and red colors are often dominant, reaches an extreme degree of simplification and force.

Born in 1911 in Halmstad, Sweden died in 1981
